1. Name (optional):

2. Age: 21

3. Nationality: Canadian

4. Gender: female

5. How would you explain your path to someone else with no knowledge of it?

Kemeticism - The reverence of Ancient Egyptian culture, philosophy and deities as determined by study of Egyptian texts, manuscripts, tombs and other archeological sources.

6. How is your path expressed in practice?

It depends on the temples - like any religion Kemeticism has several different sects that claim theirs is The Way. The priests and the priestesses daily take care of the deities in the temples. One sect has named a living pharoah to lead. Personally, I have my own naos housing my matron to which I give daily reverence and sacrifices.

7. How do you know if your practice is successful?

For festivals I can usually tell by odd weather phenomena, ectoplasmic presences, shapes in the candles/shadows. In my daily devotions, this is irrelevant.

8. Why have you chosen the particular path you are following?

Occult practises and science did not provide enough raison d'être, so i started to look into different paths. Being scientifically minded, I wrote out a list of compatible deities and started doing minor evocations. As soon as I completed my matron's invocation, an earthquake happened. It scared the shit out of me, but eventually I started looking into kemeticism.

9. What is your experience of otherworld beings? Could you give some examples.

see above.

10. How do you see your relationship with them?

A symbiotic relationship. My matron protects me and offers guidance while I perform the sacrifices and rituals that gives her sustenance.

11. How does your path relate to other areas of your life?

I follow a dietary regime that agrees with my path, and I incorporate elements of both modern Canadian culture with that reconstructed from Ancient Egyptian records. Being unallied with any kemetic temple, I am not able to participate in the group gatherings that uphold a majority Egyptian culture.

12. How do you see the relationship of life and death?

Two sides of the same coin.

13. How do you see time?

There was/is the First Time of the gods which was/is linear, followed by this time which is cyclic.

14. How do you handle ideas of good and evil?

There is no good and evil. There is Maat and isfet. Maat has no direct english translation, though falls somewhere along the lines of tha balance of the world, though some see it as order and right. Isfet is often described as chaos, however personally i see it more as disruption.

15. How do you view different spaces and objects in your practice or experience?

16. How do you feel about other religions?

They aren't for me.

17. How do you feel about science?

It is a wonderful tool for understanding reality.

18. How do you feel modern Paganisms relate to ancient paganisms?

Like reflections in a fun house mirror. Some are slightly recognisable, others are twisted beyond recognition.
